The main purposes:
Sulfuric acid is used in manufacturing fertilizers like ammonium sulfate, super phosphate of lime, etc.
Sulfuric acid can also be used in manufacturing of hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, phosphoric acid, ether, plastics, metal sulfates, cellophane, dyes, drugs, perfumes, disinfectants and even glue.
Tarry compounds in the gasoline are removed by using sulfuric acid.
It is used as an electrolyte in lead acid batteries.
Sulfuric acid can be used also in the removal of oxides from iron and steel before electroplating or galvanizing.
