Hexane is a straight-chain alkane with six carbon atoms and has the molecular formula C6H14.
Hexane is a colorless liquid, odorless when pure, and with boiling points approximately 69 °C (156 °F). It is widely used as a cheap, relatively safe, largely unreactive, and easily evaporated non-polar solvent.
N-hexane is a hydrocarbon with the chemical formula C6H14. It is a colorless, flammable liquid with a gasoline-like odor. N-hexane is commonly used as a solvent in industrial processes, such as in the extraction of vegetable oils and as a cleaning agent in the printing and textile industries. It can also be found in some consumer products, such as adhesives and sealants. However, n-hexane is also a neurotoxin and prolonged exposure to it can cause nerve damage and other health problems. Therefore, it is important to handle n-hexane with caution and in a well-ventilated area.

Uses:
Most of the n-Hexane used in industry is mixed with similar chemicals called solvents. The major use for solvents containing n-Hexane is to extract vegetable oils from crops such as soybeans. These solvents are also used as cleaning agents in the printing, textile, furniture, and shoe making industries. Certain kinds of special glues used in the roofing and shoe and leather industries also contain n-Hexane. Several consumer products contain n-Hexane, quick-drying glues used in various hobbies, and rubber cement.
