Acrylic acid is an organic compound with the chemical formula of C3H4O2. It is a colorless liquid with a pungent smell, miscible with water, and miscible with ethanol and ether. It has active chemical properties and is easy to polymerize in the air. It can be reduced to propionic acid by hydrogenation, and can be added with hydrogen chloride to generate 2-chloropropionic acid, which is mainly used to prepare acrylic resin.
