Product Description
Pure sodium hydroxide is a white solid, easily soluble in water, and the aqueous solution has astringency and a greasy feel. Sodium hydroxide easily absorbs water when exposed to the air, the surface is wet and gradually dissolves, and its relative density is 2.130. Melting point 318.4 ºC. Boiling point 1390 ºC. There are two kinds of solid and liquid: pure solid caustic soda is white, in block, flake, rod, granular, and brittle; pure liquid caustic soda is colorless and transparent liquid. Solid caustic soda has strong hygroscopicity. Easily soluble in water, exothermic when dissolving, the aqueous solution is alkaline and has a greasy feeling; soluble in ethanol and glycerol; insoluble in acetone and ether. It is extremely corrosive and has a corrosive effect on fibers, skin, glass, ceramics, etc. It reacts with metal aluminum and zinc, non-metallic boron and silicon to release hydrogen; it undergoes disproportionation reaction with halogens such as chlorine, bromine and iodine; it neutralizes with acids to generate salt and water.

1.Caustic soda flakes mainly used as the most common paint stripper on the wooded objects.
2.Caustic Soda can be used in conjunction with zinc for creation of the famous Gold pennies experiment.
3.Caustic Soda can be used in the refining of alumina containing ore (bauxite) to produce alumina's (aluminum oxide) which used to produce aluminum metal via the smelting process.
4.Caustic Soda flakes can be used in soap making (cold process soap, saponification).
5.Caustic Soda flakes can be used in the home as a drain cleaning agent for clearing dogged drains.
